Menage-a-Trois is a California red blend that appears to have become a favorite among Florida RINO’s. Most wines from California and elsewhere outside Europe are identified by the variety of the grapes used to make the wine, but a blend combines different grape varieties into one wine.
In this case, three grape varieties are blended together into a premium red wine: (1) Zinfandel, on top bringing blackberry and raspberry jam to the blend; (2) Merlot, with its generous mouth feel and luscious red fruit, fitting perfectly in the middle; and (3) Cabernet Sauvignon, with its rich flavors and firm tannins, is the ideal base for the bottom layer of the trio. Each grape variety is fermented separately and then blended together before bottling.
Critics laud the fresh, ripe, and jam-like fruit of this wine. A verified participant attests: “I have really enjoyed this blend for several years. It has a rich berry taste and just a slight sweetneXXX. Soft and smooth and a lush finish.” It rates 91 points from critics.
The wine is forward, silky and smooth. This delicious dalliance makes a perfect accompaniment for grilled meat. A bottle sells for around US$8.00 retail at wine shops.
