Today at 4 p.m., Miami-Dade Commissioner Roberto Gonzalez will host a Fluoride Virtual Town Hall meeting exclusively online about troublesome ingredients, including fluoride, in the Miami-Dade County Public Water System. The County has not posted the 2024 Water Report; therefore, it is unclear how much fluoride is currently in the water system. View the 2023 Water Report.

Today’s Townhall Guest Speakers To Confirm Fluoride Lowers IQ In Children
There are two speakers for the town hall who were involved in the federal judge’s ruling against the EPA regarding fluoride’s unacceptable risks in lowering IQ in our children.
Two Special Guest Speakers Include:
- Dr. Ashley Malin is a researcher and scientist known for her work in environmental health. She has studied the potential health effects of fluoride exposure, particularly its impact on neurological development.
- Dr. Bruce Lanphear, who is a well-known expert in environmental health, particularly in studying the effects of toxins like lead and fluoride on children’s health.
How To Join The Fluoride Virtual Town Hall
Interested public or parties may join the Zoom meeting by clicking here. After the presentations, the public will be allowed to ask questions.
Miami-Dade County Commissioners Should Omit Playing Doctors or Scientists
Read the open letter from District 17 Committeewoman Christi Reeves-Tasker to Miami Dade County Commissioners.
Dear Commissioners:
Today, your job is simple: vote to omit fluorides and other unnatural chemicals from our public water system. Then protect our natural aquifers from harmful development practices.
I first reported on NBC News in 2021 when the Una Residences construction crew breached our aquifers. It is still unclear where the water from the Una Residences uprising of this acquifer went. Commissioner Ken Russell released the Stop Work permits for this project and continued with the permits as if nothing water related had occurred.
Today, in your votes, please remember you are not medical providers or dentists, nor am I. Common sense should tell us that our Miami waters should be kept pure and clean. Everyone wants to protect our bodies and our environment.
According to the American Cancer Society on Cancer.org, fluorides already occur naturally in soil, air, or water, although their levels can vary widely. Just about all water has some fluoride. Fluoride is also found in food sources from some plants and animals. And it has been found to produce cancer in a male rat study.
How can we know or confirm that each of us actually needs more fluoride?
It’s simple. We cannot confirm how much fluoride each of us are getting. But each of our medical providers and dentists can choose whether or not we receive more fluoride in their recommendations for independent health.
Once inside the body, fluorides are absorbed into the blood through the digestive tract, Miami deserves to have a choice. The Miami Dade County government that operates the water system removes this choice.
The American Cancer Society reported that unnecessary fluorides could travel through the blood and tend to collect in areas high in calcium, such as the bones and teeth. Therefore, we must be concerned about playing doctor or scientist and oversaturating our population with chemicals that the body then has to fight off.
Purchased Drinking Water Has Standards, So Should Miami
Most of you probably purchase water or use water filters to prevent drinking from the tap. Not everyone has this choice or the funds to avoid the fluoride that is necessarily being added to the public water system. If you are fortunate enough to purchase bottled water, you are protected by the FDA’s standards.
According to Cancer.org, bottled water standards are set by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
- For bottled water with no fluoride added, it varies.
- For bottled water with added fluoride, the maximum allowed is 0.7 mg/L, which aligns with the PHS recommendation.
Every American has the right to know that water is safe from harmful ingredients and will not cause harm.
1. Fluoride does not naturally persist in our water because it is HARMFUL and blocks the pineal gland in our brains; it is especially harmful to young and old.
- TSH: Studies confirm fluoride affects the production of thyroid hormones. This drives the pituitary gland to release more TSH, which stimulates the thyroid gland in an attempt to produce more thyroid hormones.
- Melatonin: Fluoride accumulates in the pineal gland, which produces melatonin, a hormone that is responsible for establishing sleep patterns. Some experts suggest fluoride’s effect on the pineal gland reduces the amount of melatonin produced, affecting a person’s sleep.
- Sex hormones: Research suggests that fluoride can reduce sex hormones. Effects on sex hormones can cause problems with fertility and puberty.
- Insulin: Another possible effect of fluoride on the endocrine system is blocking the function of the pancreas. This can affect insulin levels and how the body controls blood sugar.
- Cortisol: Some experts suggest that fluoride also affects the adrenal glands and decreases the levels of another hormone called cortisol.
- Cancer increased in a male rat study. Some of the controversy about the possible link stems from a study of lab animals reported by the US National Toxicology Program (NTP) in 1990. The researchers found “equivocal” (uncertain) evidence of fluoridated drinking water’s cancer-causing potential in male rats, based on a higher than expected number of cases of osteosarcoma (a type of bone cancer). There was no evidence of cancer-causing potential in female rats or in male or female mice”, according to Cancer.org
2. Fluorides do not stop cavities do not exist, but a proper diet with regulated sugars does, and then we can omit diabetes and several other diseases.
Examples:
Africans have the least fluoride in their water and the fewest dental problems because they eat the least processed foods and mostly eat natural sugars. Meanwhile, Americans have the most fluoride in the water and very high levels of dental problems.
3. Countries like Germany, France, and the Netherlands tend to have policies against water fluoridation, often citing concerns about potential health risks and ethical considerations.
We, the People of Miami-Dade County, respectfully request that you all vote to remove the fluoride from the water. Otherwise, we will ensure you do not win your next election.
Thank you!
